Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.

This is Lucy. She’s changed our world forever. Since the passing of my childhood dogs, Scully and Sheba, I’ve ached for another dog in my life. Circumstances didn’t allow for it for a very long time. Until now… We moved into our own home recently. A home that came with a big garden. I would joke with my husband that a big garden is for big dogs!
There are some obvious issues with the yard and our many neighbouring boundry walls. We wanted dogs, but that had to wait unitl fencing could be put in place.
So when my boss walked into the office with this terrifed little baby girl, my heart melted. She had been seen running around the Point for at least two weeks. A resident in the area managed to get close enough to get a lead on her. She was kept over night, but didn’t have anywhere to go on Monday. So… we agreed to foster until she could find a placement in her forever home. Relucted to get attached, we refused to name her, so she became known as Baby Girl.
The night she came home after her routine vet checks, I looked at my husband and asked him “what are we doing”? After just a few days, she’d slipped into our hearts and felt like she’s been with us for years. How could we give her away when she’s started to follow me like a shadow. And so, we named her. It’s official. Lucy.
