What to know

  • We spend up to 3 hours on the water, however the weather is beyond our control and time may vary subject to conditions.
  • We will only cancel when conditions are unsafe to go out. Trips are canceled 24 hours before launching. Please see our FAQ’s for detailed cancellation terms.
  • A minimum of six clients is required to confirm a launch. The boat is suitable for a maximum of ten. Additional boats are available for larger groups.
  • You will need to bring your own wetsuit, mask, snorkel and fins. Gear is available to rent at an additional charge.
  • Respect the marine environment. Avoid touching or disturbing marine life.

Aliwal Shoal

ALIWAL SHOAL: All year round shark activity (From R900 per person) Below are guidelines of seasonal sightings at Aliwal Shoal:

  • June to September: Humpback whale migration
  • June to November: Ragged Tooth Sharks, also known as Sand Tiger or Grey Nurse Sharks. Aliwal Shoal is their breeding grounds.
  • October to March: Hammerhead Sharks
  • December to May: White Tip Reef Sharks, Manta Rays, Spotted Eagle Rays, Devil Rays, Tiger Sharks and Bull (Zambezi) Sharks
  • All year round: Oceanic (Pelagic) Black Tip Sharks, Dolphins and Turtles

Sodwana Bay

SODWANA BAY: All year round dolphin encounters (From R1200 per person, per day*) Below are guidelines of seasonal sightings at Sodwana Bay:

  • July to September: Southern Right and Humpback whale migration.
  • November to February: Loggerhead and Leatherback turtles come ashore to nest.
  • All year round: Dolphins, Manta Rays & over 1,200 species of fish.

*Sodwana Bay Ocean Safari’s are subject to a 3 day package. There is a wide variety of dive sites on offer that range from two, three, five, seven & nine miles from the launch site. With multiple dive sites to choose from, one day is just not enough. We can also provide custom trips for you if you are looking for some adventure on land as well! We’ll take care of the full itinerary.

Shark Diving

Aliwal Shoal is renowned for it’s shark encounters (From R2000 per person) Highly misunderstood and misrepresented, these Apex predators offer a mind-blowing experience of a life time.

  • Shark diving is suitable for non-divers or inexperienced divers as we offer a snorkel experience with highly trained guides.
  • While Black tip sharks are the most predominant species, Dusky and Bull (Zambezi) sharks are also make the occasional appearance.
  • Tiger sharks may be sighted in the summer months, from December to February.
  • Our professional photographer will document your experience so that you can enjoy a fully immersive experience.
