Intro to Freediving Workshop: Dive Into the Basics

Curious about freediving and what it’s all about?

This workshop is your entryway into the underwater world—no certification required, just a desire to learn and explore. Designed as a relaxed introduction, it’s perfect for anyone who wants to snorkel comfortably in the open ocean, improve their time in the water, or get a feel for freediving basics before diving into more advanced courses.

What to expect:

Held on an ad-hoc basis for small groups of two or more, the workshop covers key freediving fundamentals, including breathwork, relaxation, stretching, equalization, body awareness, and mindful movement. Each session is crafted to help you build comfort in the water, providing tools to maximize your enjoyment of the ocean.

The workshop is Ideal for those who want to learn how to snorkel comfortably in the open ocean, to maximise your experience at sea & explore the world of freediving. We touch on the connection between freediving & mental wellbeing and how these principles can be applied to everyday life.

By the end of this workshop you will have a basic understanding of freediving terminology, physiology and understand how your body responds to being submerged underwater. You’ll have the basic skills to enjoy advanced snorkelling and explore the underwater world on on breath.

Duration: 3 – 4 Hours

• Basic Theory & Dry Skills training 1.5 hours,
• 1 x Confined-Water Session (pool) 1.5+ hours,

Cost: R950 DUC Members / R1250 NON Members

Includes basic theory for understanding how our bodies operate underwater, guided stretching for freediving, relaxation techniques in preparation for dives, pool entry fee & an interactive PDF Guide Book.
*Gear rental is not included & can be arranged on request.

NOTE: If you choose to further your freediving education by committing to a Molchanov W1 Beginner Freediver course, you will be discounted R300 from the course for participation in this workshop.
